Local Business owner Chris Dearsly in Christchurch is super passionate about sustainable energy and is in rural West Melton to talk to homeowner Peter Curran.

On arrival at this property, Chris knew it was something special. It's a large architecture-designed home with cedar and iron materials, and he knew we had to design a solar system to match the lines of the home.

Working with the design of the home, and the orientation

The bedroom wing has a nice Northern orientation and the pitch is good for winter sun - using the lines of the home, it looks great aesthetically as well.

Understanding the power usage in the home

This home is large, and has a ducted heating system for cooling in the summer and heating in the winter which uses a lot of energy and a spa pool. Another key consideration was charging a Tesla EV from excess solar during the middle of the day.
